Get yourself some credits

Just a note that you can now not only read an article from my wife on engineering ethics, but you can take a quiz on the article and get yourself a continuing education credit!

Okay, here's the story. A few years ago the professional engineering registry in Texas added a requirement that all engineers gain 15 hours of continuing education credits every year. Most of the engineers weren't so happy about it, so they added the codicil that the places offering the credits need no accreditation. Hence there are plenty of places out there that are willing to offer credits for writing peer-reviewed articles (10 hours) or taking a quiz (1 hour). Most engineering firms send off their employees to a one-day class that'll get 'em their year's worth of credits, but those classes are pretty expensive. Writing an article requires a little more effort but is less time-consuming and expensive, so we went that route.

I'll open an engineering training course.

We'll have 15 hours of debates about the proper way to buttress a bald eagle, or whatever it is that engineers talk about.

Then, donuts.

Cost: $500
