It's the most wonderful time of the year

The rules for the McDonald's Monopoly contest are now posted. Looks like it's not as good a deal as last year. Last year every third entry had a $3 Best Buy coupon, with the rest having a $1 coupon, for an average value of $1.66 per entry.

This year 1/12 of the entries have a $5 coupon with the rest having a $1 coupon, making an average value of $1.32 per entry.

Also you can only use $200 at a BB store rather than $300, although they lifted the restriction on buying an iPod. Not that I'm gonna buy an iPod, but it's good if you're planning on getting one.

Also they're slightly reducing the number of tickets reserved for mail-in entries. This, coupled with the fact that I got a few "sorry, we're outta tickets" letters last year, is guaranteeing that I'm sending in all of my entries on the day the contest starts rather than spacing it out like last year.

Also since the rules aren't as favorable, I'm only sending in 500 this year rather than 1,000. Not yet sure what I'm gonna do with all of that Best Buy credit, but I'll find something.

I've been looking at the mail in thing for a while. Well, actually I've been looking at getting an iPod, and your update pretty much cemented it. Well, anyway, what I'm thinking of doing, is dropping 200 into envelopes and stamps, and mailing it in, provided that it's roughly $1 per envelope, I should end up with a little extra cash.

Is it about $1 an envelope?

And more importantly, do I have to mail the SASE in another envelope?(Now that I type that out, seems like a stupid question.)

Anyway, not that you have to help out the competition, but it sure would be nice to get some 'free' iTunes credit...

Thanks.

It's about 80 cents for a full SASE. Two 39 cent stamps, and about a penny each for envelopes. Get #8 (small) and #10 (big) envelopes so you don't have to fold anything.

1. Write your address on small envelope.
2. Stamp small envelope. Do not seal it (duh).
3. Put small envelope in big envelope.
4. Stamp big envelope.
5. Write McDonalds' address on big envelope.
6. Seal and send.

You'll average $1.32 back ($5 credit 1/12 of the time, $1 for the rest). And there's a 4/11 chance of a food price in each envelope.
