I just read that uber-game-designer Sid Sackson died three weeks ago at age 82 from complications of Alzheimer's.

For those of you who write games and don't know who he is, get yer ass over here and read up on the guy. He was about the most prolific and talented game designer around, and even though you don't realize it, he influenced the business you're trying to infiltrate quite a bit.

One of my most popular games, "Brain Bones" is inspired by a terrific little solitaire dice game from A Gamut of Games.

He was also well-known for his collection of boardgames, which numbered close to 10,000. The collection has been sold in lots, and much of it is currently available on eBay. I plan to grab a couple of games, if only to have a piece of history of a great man to whom, even though we never met, I owe quite a lot.
