Lo-Poly Modelling Program

Hello everyone, I''m getting a bit tired of having to hard code huge numbers of coordinates into my OpenGL programs and am therefore looking for a 3D modelling program. I already have Max and Lightwave at home but need a program for use at school that the lab techies won''t have a problem with me installing on the system that I am using, so it needs to be rather small, as well it will only be for low poly untextured work so nothing fancy is necessary. Have any of you heard of one that fits these requirements. Thanks for any help, Reaptide

Wow, must be nice to be so rich to be able to afford BOTH Max and Lightwave..

lightwave = $2500
max 3 = $2700

if you''re so rich why not buy a nice laptop and screw using your school computers at all..

You might try MilkShape 3D, it''s a modeller that is very popular in the mod community right now.

Someone here at gamedev is also making a modeller called Clayworks. I haven''t tried it yet but it looks good.

heya,

check out http://www.okino.com & http://www.xdsoft.com/explorer

there are TONS of conversion products out there to drop ogl coords to a .cpp format from a myriad of well-known formats.

keep in mind, for larger models .. and ease of loading,
you will want to code a reader for a format like .3ds/etc.

good luck,

Nendo is cute lowpoly mesh editor. it support 3dx, lwo, wrl,
and many other 3d formats.

god is a coder!
main(o,_){for(_?--o, main(o+2,"FApHGG@`FP``aP``FP``aP``FDHX""PhPpFDHdPhQHFDIBPhRDF`ScdB"[o]):5;o&&_>1;printf("%s",_-70?_&1?"$$":" ":(_=0,"n")),_/=2);}

looks nice. 99$ is reasonable. I wonder if it allows you to paint the mesh directly. I''ll have to try their demo.

Anyone out there ever try Meshpaint3d? If so did you try the retail version? I ask this because the program is very nice with their ''demo'' data but I don''t know if it would work well with my data.
