I am planning to start a new project: a Transformers Starcraft like game - anyone interested in Transformers and game programming drop me a line. I''ve done some research, it looks like we''re going to have to create our own engine, etc...it''s going to be challenging so if you''re up to the challenge, this could be a good project for yah! drop me an email at cong@econquest.com (day time) prime@tfextreme.com anytime http://www.tfextreme.com

Are you the same poster who put forth the exact same idea a while back, or a different one? If the same, Ok. If different, I suggest you track down the other one and combine your resources, since he wants to make a Starcraft/transformers thing too. Good luck, anyway.

Nope different one. It''s going to be hard trying to find out who it is, I don''t think the search feature is working on this BBS.

I think his name was Scorponok, or however that Beast Wars transformer was spelled. He''s working on the EXACT same thing you just described, so I suggest you track him down through the member search and team up.

Not that i don''t think this is a good idea, but wouldn''t you have to get permission frmo whatever company ownes the copyright(i don''t know it off hand)?
that aside, great idea. if i saw it in a store, i''d buy it.

I would be willing to help
But, Tsutomegi is correct. You would have to get permission from who ever owns transformers, which I think might be Hasbro, which prob isn''t good idea right now considering the whole deal they are making about their games being cloned.

What if you did not call it transformers, and did not use the transformer characters? If you just used robots that transformed and used your own ideas, they couldn''t get you in any trouble, could they? I mean, there were Gobots and Transformers. Both had the same basic idea, and were owned by different companies I believe....

That would be a way around it...
i agree that it would be pretty hard trying to get permission from hasbro, or any big company for that matter...
suggestion: don''t make it too much like them though, you might get into trouble for that as well. on the other hand, if it''s not a huge project, they may ont care... which brings me to my next question, is this supposed to be a big project, or just a bunch of people developing downloadable freeware / shareware / etc.??¿¿
