What's the state of the gaming industry by countries?

I''m an engineer who works for the computer industry but not game related. I''ve been trying to enter the gaming industry but for me it''s difficult because in Spain there are only a very few companies: Pyro Studios and Dinamic can qualify as international and the rest (not very much) don''t produce good, big quality games. Besides, the salary is half what you would get working for a non-gaming computer company. Let''s say that a normal salary for an analyst/programmer here is around 1500-2000 euros ($ is almost the same), so expect about 800-1000 when working for games. Of course, you can be a normal computer engineer to work for any company, but you must be an incredible coder, expert mathematician, ... to be a game programmer. I would like to hear from people of other countries what''s their state and make a comparison.

133000 francs/year for a place as Game Designer/Level Designer @ UBISoft.

I missed it

too bad they won''t produce the first real RPG

It''s about that.

-* Sounds, music and story makes the difference between good and great games *-
-* So many things to do, so little time to spend. *-
