Tip: Getting good quality music for your games

Hi all, just popped in on a recommendation from a friend (looking for publishers for my game myself), and saw this forum. Since I just recently had a very good experience, I thought some others might like it. I needed music for my game, and although I do have a composer who did some tunes, I really wanted an audio-cd full of music to accompany the game (the game is not very large in bytes, and therefore it would be a waste of CD-space to leave it empty). In any case, I decided to head over to www.mp3.com, listen to a lot of stuff, and then ask the artists for permission to use their music. That way, I''d have music with my game, and the authors would have more exposure for their music. I can tell you it worked! Almost all artists I contacted agreed, in exchange for a copy of the game when it''s finished (and credits in the game/manual of course) So in case you need some good quality audio music for your games, try www.mp3.com (or contact any other composer). I guess as long as they are not too big (well known) yet, they might be likely to agree. M. Egmond (http://www.elmerproductions.com)

Megmond is 100 percent correct.

I hang around mp3.com a lot (in #electronic) and I have a site there. Everytime I mention that I do game music 5-6 people ask about how they can get into it.

The people there are very similiar to the people here. They do what they do because they love it. Some of them won''t work for free. Most of them will.
