Perhaps the 17 Billion figure is a world-wide estimate.

Or perhaps the 17 Billion figure includes licensed merchandise.

"...Worldwide sales revenue for gaming software reached $17 billion in 1999, according to the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA), a trade association for computer-game publishers."

"To put it into perspective, the worldwide revenue for data software was only $8 billion last year."

Not to mention that computer-gaming hardware is not included in this figure.

Yes, it is such a large number that it is suprising, but indeed true.

Thanks.

IIIIsh that is a big number ... in 1998 it was 5.5 billions in the US only... I am very happy that the industry is going that well! )))

I think that is the good time when peoples are buying we have to put more things to sell!

Only hope that hasbro will not get his nose too far!

Thank you.

I don´t think there´s gonna be more products on the shelves.

I think products are getting more and more expensive making it difficult for independant gamedevelopers like us.

The growth of the industry is a bad thing in my opinion.

Just think of overhyped games like TombRaider..This is the future I´m afraid.

When it comes to a buisness presentation, it doesn''t matter if the number is ture, it''s how many people think it''s true, right? This was a pretty good response for the post, I''m glad I started it.
