Edo period 1603 - 1863.

Humm.. well, it''s deffinately not medieval period. Those dates are primarily in the renaissance time in europe. However, I''d stick with calling it the "Edo Period" since that''s what it''s defined as in japan. Perhaps somewhere in a manual you can describe the time as being 1603-1863, since most people won''t know about japanese history it''d be a kinda cool history lesson combined with little know facts you''ll never use in your life kinda thing
