What are "too many" FPS?

Is there such a thing? One my pet projects runs at a maximum of 333FPS on a P200MMX. I''ve spent a lot of time optimising it, but I can still see more room for improvement. If you can bleed out a few more FPS, do you do it just because you can? Or can you honestly say, "Enough is enough"?

Well the more the better as you develop, but a finished project needs no more than the refresh rate.
Well, it depends on the scalability. If your project is scalable, i.e. you can run it in any resolution, getting more FPS means that you can go to higher resolutions for the same FPS. It also frees up more time for the CPU to do other things, such as procedural textures, kinematics, AI, etc.

People might not remember what you said, or what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel.

It's only funny 'till someone gets hurt. And then it's just hilarious.Unless it's you.
If I can get around 50-80 FPS on my targeted system then I say enough is enough. Anything more than that and the processing time should have been spent on making the AI or graphics better.

Just my two cents.
