Debugger/Profiler incompatible with NeHe framework?

I can't seem to run the Debugger or a Profiler on any NeHe tutorials, every time I try to debug the app hangs as soon as it's run.. Has anyone managed to use a Debugger or Profiler on these tutorials(VC6 or DevCPP?)
