Game mode ideas for FPS's

So you have your standard deathmatch and capture the flag modes of course. Then on top of that there are a few other ideas that I''d like to spill. The first is called invasion. Two teams against eachother, but the objective is to get into their inner base and hit their HQ target (kinda like laser tag) until eventually you''re team has scored the set winning score. Each base has a few HQ areas, say 5 or so, and if team members coordinate well, simultanious HQ hits on different HQ''s result in a higher score. Hits on all HQs simultaniously (allow say 5 secs between hits otherwise it would be impossible) and your team automatically wins. The game would play similar to CTF only you don''t have to return to your base. Another is called War (working name). Just like Assualt in Unreal Tournament, only both teams are attacking and defending their bases at the same time. Some objective must be completed, such as, i dunno, collecting a few keys that all have to be used at the same time in order to gain access to a certain room, in which you can destroy some sort of target, like a secret weapon or something. Each team member should be assigned "defender" or "attacker" before the game starts, and each has certian abilities and boundries. one more is called destruction, in which you team''s goal is to cause more damage to the other teams "assets" before the time runs out, or destroy all their stuff and win. A good example level of this would be to department stores facing eachother (with a little bit of city in-between of course), and you have to go in and destroy all the merchandise in the other team''s store. :D

Stealing ideas from another game, how about...

Assassin - DM, but every player has a mission specifically to kill another player. Once you kill a player, you get his mission. You can still kill other players, but you don't up your score until you take your target.


Specialist - DM, but you have to kill each player with each weapon at least once. A difficult challenge for the wimpy weapons.


Monster Movie - One player gets some stealth, extra health, tons of weapons and a really wicked looking skin. Everybody else gets average weapons, and have to band together to beat him. Monster only gets health by devouring players. Whowever kills him gets to be the monster for the next round.

Battleship - This one is funny as hell and the guys I played with discovered it by tweaking the Quake move_speed variables. Game speed is normal, but run and walk speed are ridiculously low. Weapons are limited to artillery type weapons (grenade launcher) and weak direct fire ordinance. Because evasion isn't an option, fights come down to tactics and cover. It takes a little longer to get from point A to B, but it's fun!

Afterburner - Variant of battleship with a short speed burst to get you outta those life & death situations.
