Modeling real people

is it really realy hard to make a model of a person in real life and making them look almost just like there real life counterpart?

Yes.
for anyone with less than a $20000 budget, then yes. you cane scan a physical model and use that much easier than trying to actully sit there and do it yourself.
but, if you have to do it in max or some other god awful program, then, yea, its pretty hard.

It''s probably about as hard to 3D model something as it is to sculpt that same thing in say, clay. How long do you thing it would take to learn to sculpt someone like a famous artist? Probably about the same.
If you want to create a decent model of a real person try a program that can create models from photographs. They''re not as easy to use as a scanner, but much more affordable. A limited one is even free.

thanks for your help i have one question though when i have a pic how do i get a full body model or do i just get the face and do the body myself?
You can do which ever you want. The whole body or just the head. With a free program like PhotoModeler Lite you''ll need to do the head separately from other body parts because you''ll need all of the allowed data points for the head.

is there any way i can take a pic off the net like a jpg file and make it 3D so i can get an idea of how it will look until i buy a digital camera?
