Future of Gaming
Why not add one more section in Community Interaction about the future of gaming? With technology changing everyday, things we only dreamed of in games a few years ago are now reality. I think a place where programmers could speculate what games would be like in five or tens years would be great, not to mention a place where new ideas could be formed instead of old ideas being immitated.
The Future of Gaming (Depressing Version): More of the same...
The Future of Gameing (Not-Too-Depressing Version): Ok, there''ll be *some* innovation...
The Future of Gaming (Incredibly Optimistice Version): Woo hoo! Innovations left-and-right, no more me-too games, whole new genres being defined by a single game...
Sorry...I''m in a weird mood...![](wink.gif)

Its really a topic that can be dealt with in a lot of places we already have, where you can discuss a specific topic of innovation.
Its not much of a topic in itself for longevity. More of just a maybe-decent thread.
We try not to add many forums so that the ones we do have get used more. Having lots of topics tends to make none of them active.

Geoff,
Yeah, after thinking about it, you are probably right. Initially, I was thinking about a topic where ideas could be formed and critiqued, which seemed too general for a thread. Also, topics could range from design to technology, from graphics to AI. But you are probably right, it probably wouldn''t have the longevity that a topic should have.

Maybe this would make for a good limited time, special-topic forum (like the MS one that''s here now, the interviews one before it, etc.)
Geoff''s right though, we are REALLY reluctant to add additional forums. I have several requests for new forums that I''m currently considering; I can''t add them all.

I can understand your reasoning behind not wanting to add a lot of topics. I think this topic would be a good discussion, but I wouldn''t expect it to last for more than a few weeks.
After I posted the last message, I thought about it being limited like the Microsoft discussion, but I didn''t want to push the issue.
