How to render a slice to make it look really inside an object?

It's the same as photo editing. You will just render your one photo over the other. 

In short if you plan on doing this in VR/ AR you need to get the camera feed. Then you render the hole over it.

 

The most difficult thing to do will be to align the hole you are making in real time with a flat surface.

It's a 3D model aligned with the floor.

The shadow does look like it is using the room light, so maybe using the image from the camera to produce a panorama that is then used for lighting.
