If I use raytracing in my game, can I alternate cubemap by using raytrace thing?

First, I'm begginer in d3dx, so you might be confuse cause of my word. Sorry for that

My question is, we use cubemap for some kind of reflection like car or teapot right?

But if we use raytrace, do we need any trick for that? Actually we can literally tracing light, doesnt it?

Or is it demand too much resources?
