Why is the site so slow?

I haven't been active since 2011. Clearly, much has changed. However, the site is painfully slow. Any internal link takes seconds to load. This is the only site that I have this problem with and it's not a cookie or cache issue, again, since I haven't been active in over a decade. Is this a known issue, or could it have something to do with the inactive profile? Why is my user name in my account settings “MarkS156960”?

Actually, from site data the 2 accounts appear to be the same person, but there once was a time we allowed multiple users to have the same username - a problem of 20+ years of legacy systems and data conversions missing special cases that I didn't even know was possible. Either way, semi-resolved for now until a more permanent solution can be determined.

The resilience theory is being tested.
I especially like it when the “Not connected to a network" page comes up and I have to refresh IP to wiggle past the gate.
The bright side is the excuses have always been entertaining.

Reminder: The topic is "Why Is The Site So Slow".
I have my theories that lean towards an attempt to auto regulate spam postings.
And/or overused admin controls directed towards IP aspects and a LOT of if/else type constructs.

↓↓↓ Bwahahaha…Can't wait to hear how this makes any difference regarding site speed for the rest of us.
