How about a contest with that has more than one set of criteria, each set being targeted toward a different skill/profession. The general topic would be the same (make a tetris clone, make a fire demo, etc) but there would several lists of additional critera for different groups (Graphics, Design, Code, ?). There would be winners for each criteria group (don't need prizes, just recognition) and an overall winner (or top 3) based on how well the submission matched up to the general and group specific criteria (They would get prizes if there where any). An example: General criteria: Make a tetris clone. No inovation in the actual gameplay is required unless stated in a specific criteria group. Groups: Graphics: Submission judged based on eye candy value. Design: Best expansion on the tetris gameplay (3D, new elements) Assembly: Smallest total program size while preserving the game. Beginner: Complete the general criteria (submissions in this group would not be considered for overall winner to prevent advanced coders from cheating, this category is just for friendly competion among beginners) General: Same as beginner but can be considered for overall winner (There would not likely be a general category for something like tetris, its to simple to not require some inovation) [EDIT] Add General Category Edited by - Michalson on March 1, 2002 12:36:35 PM
