CentiPenny's micropayment service offers new monetization options for game and app developers

CentiPenny announces the launch of its micropayment service. With CentiPenny, businesses are able to charge as little as 1/100th of $0.01 up to any amount to end users for anything from access to a web page to purchases of in-game or in-app items.

While some larger gaming companies have their own in-house micropayment systems, the ability to charge pennies for in-game items eludes many game development companies, particularly indie developers, who don’t have the resources or game selection to provide such a service. CentiPenny aims to fill that void by opening up the micropayment market to all game and app developers. In addition to the benefits for developers, users benefit from having a service which transcends any single development company’s offerings.

Different games present different challenges and opportunities for monetization. Can you make more by charging $0.50 for your game than charging $2.99, because you will get 10x as many people who pay? Are in game items worth paying for to end users? Will a model of charging for the next level, puzzle, or whatever work as a strategy? CentiPenny encourages developers to think outside the box. Micropayments add up quickly and at the same time are affordable to a wider array of end users.

While CentiPenny is only available through a website API, at this time, the company is working on an in-game/in-app API, which is expected to be released by early January 2021.
