In February, we revealed the first look at MetaHuman Creator, a new cloud-based app for creating fully rigged digital humans in mere minutes, along with two free sample MetaHuman characters to explore.

Today we’re thrilled to officially open the Early Access program for MetaHuman Creator for anyone to create their own unique MetaHumans and download them for direct use in Unreal Engine.

We’re also providing over 50 ready-made MetaHumans for you to download and use in your Unreal Engine projects directly from Quixel Bridge. Simply download the free application and click on the MetaHumans section.

Check out the Unreal Engine blog for more details and to view a new video with a few of the developers behind MetaHuman Creator on their inspiration and years-long dedication to building this technology and making it available to all.

Excellent work! I'm stoked for the outlook on game development technology utilizing AI and total immersion.

It's impressive. Still an early version, though. I tried it a bit. Export to Maya produced errors. Export to Blender is blocked. It's slow, really slow. About 2 minutes to launch, 10 seconds to change eye color, and about 15 minutes (!) to generate a downloadable model. That's all happening server side. In early access mode, you can use it for an hour, then you have to disconnect and go back in the queue for a server slot.

It's all about picking eyes, hair, etc. from a library. There's no way I could find to generate a new hairstyle. It's easy to use, but artists will be frustrated at not having much control. Basically, you can mod about 20 pre-built characters.

Very nice animated in-browser rendering. Even ray tracing is supported if you have a graphics card with the hardware for it. (At last, something that can use the ray tracing hardware in newer NVidia cards.)

It's free to use, but there's a licensing restriction that you can only use the output with UE, at least with this early access version.

LOD 5 Of 8. Only LOD 0 and 1 use the good hair system.

Has anyone been able to get a Maya file out of this “cloud app” mess of Metahuman and Quixel? If so, how? Thanks.
