4E4 = Awesome

I've been trying to think of game ideas for 4E4 all day. At first I thought it would be fun to make a game that was primarily based on a good story about a hero's journey but then I realized that it takes a lot of hard work to first create a story and second to make it not suck. All of that comes before all of the work to make the game too.

Plus I was having a hard time coming up with a hero's journey kind of story that makes use of pirates, ninjas, robots, and zombies. I think using a robot wouldn't be that bad but then I'd need one more element.

Then I was thinking it would be fun to make a game that is just supposed to be fun/funny. One of my ideas was RIAA Ninja in which you are a ninja that is employed by the RIAA to destroy pirates. Somewhere in there you'd come across some geek who made a fembot with a pension for evil. Of course to get to the geek you have to fight the fembot and of course you win.

Or do you?

The geek escapes and later in the game the fembot returns, half broken, working when it should not be: the robotic form of the undead! Of course it's more powerful this time. Maybe it will betray the geek in some ironic and humorous fashion. Perhaps something about a parent's basement...

I guess it would be best if this geek was the last goal in the game. Although lesser pirates could build up to him there still needs to be some work done on the beginning of the story.

Hmmm...

My skills are primarily limited to 2D so maybe this will give me a good reason to finally learn SDL.

Make a web-based PHP game. Choose your race (pirates, etc), and then do battle through a turn based system completely online through your browser. Web-based games are permited.

Perhaps. I dont have a whole lot of experience even playing those types of games (that is games in an environment like a webpage) so it will be a bit difficult.

As long as you have a MySQL database, you'll be good to go. The hardest thing to figure out with those games are the web design and the user management. Once you get those two working, you're on your way.
