How do you think I should improve the graphics of this 2.5D game?

Well there are two light sources right now.

The point light from near the character, and a directional light.

The game didn't have shadow maps to be honest, before your comment.

Now only the directional light has shadows.

Because it wouldn't let me have shadows with point light for some kind of a reason. Maybe it can't do soft shadows.

However, shading was only done with point light. So it was kind of odd.

Shadows for directional and shading for point light.

The following screenshots is pointlight shading + directional shading+directional soft shadows.

Yeah dynamic soft shadows are harder.

So what exactly does a directional point of lighting stand for??

I mean there are 2 lighting sources.

One point light, one directional light.

Only the directional light affect the shadow map.

Ever thought they might overlap??? I mean it's the same room.

I don't understand what you mean.

What's the difference between one point light and one directional light?

Directional Light:

All light rays are parallel. There is no origin, no falloff, nothing. It's just constant light coming from a single direction, positions don't matter at all - it's the same everywhere.

Point light:

All light rays have the same origin, so position matters. There also is some falloff to fake some attenuation. Thus the light affects only a certain region, not the whole scene.

Neither of those light types exist in reality. Just to mention.

Well, directional light is an approximation of sun light. Because for a small area, the sun lights are practically parallel.

Is that a dungeon or a building?

Any ideas on how to make it look better? I have become asthetically blind after too much graphics work
